  • Donald G. Fisher, 81, a power behind the growth of U.S. public charter schools, helped launch the KIPP schools (Knowledge is Power Program), currently a network of 82 schools nationwide serving over 20,000 kids, almost all of whom are from impoverished neighborhoods.  Over 80% of KIPP alumni attend college and KIPP Bay Area currently serves over 1800 students.
